5th Regiment Tennessee Infantry                     "E" Company
"We serve with a purpose, to Honor and Preserve"
NOTE:  This page is under construction.  The topic, may be too grandiose for our abilities, but we shall endeavor to complete the task, and welcome all suggestions.
Formation of '5th Regiment' by Individual Companies
Herein, we shall faithfully endeavor, to identify by name, each individual, who for whatever time, was a member, on the Roster, of the  "5th Regiment Tennessee Infantry,"  which, in the Year of Our Lord 1861, was formed, in Henry County, Tennessee.  Today, after the passage, of some one-hundred forty-three {143} plus years following the invasion and cessation, of armed hostilities,  we owe a great debt, of gratitude,  to 'Lieutenant Edwin H. Rennolds,' who through his honourable efforts, gathered, compiled, composed and then, in 1904, had published:

"A History
.
of the
.
Henry County Commands
.
which served in the
Confederate States Army,
.
including Rosters of the various Companies
.
enlisted in Henry County, Tenn."
In the following Roster, each soldier is shown with his initial rank, as reflected in our initial primary research source, 'Henry County Commands.'  As time passed, circumstances, that is: resignation; transfer; discharge; casualty; etc., dictated change of rank, and at a subsequent place, within this website, we will endeavor, to list documented specifics, concerning each soldier.   Initially, if a rank is not listed in 'Henry County Commands' we shall assume this individual was a 'private' and that is how herein, he is shown.  If we are able to verify he had 'rank' above 'private' we shall make the necessary correction and so state.
The listing, is by officer rank, and then alphabetically by surname.   The immediate left column contains a letter and number, that is "E - 1."  The letter represents the 'Company,' to which the individual was first assigned, and the number represents his numerical listing within the Company. This ID number, is intended for use, as this website is developed and enlarges, to list specific detailed information concerning the soldier represented by this number.  Desirably, this additional detailed information will be, of a historical and genealogical nature.
